Dining room of Grade 2 listed light house goes up for sale in Burnham-on-sea, Somerset. See SWNS story SWKEEPER; A lighthouse converted into a romantic bolthole with a French bath big enough for two people and panoramic views of the coast is on the market for £500,000. It was bought in 1995 by a television journalist sent out to cover the story, about one of Britain’s first automated lighthouses which was up for sale amid rumours of celebrity buyers. But when the story fell flat, the reporter snapped it up himself at auction. He converted it into a luxury getaway, with three bedrooms, all en-suite, and a glass floor separating the kitchen from the dining room. Now the owner is selling up after many years renting the lighthouse, in Burnham-on-Sea, North Somerset, out to holidaymakers. Before it was decommissioned in the 1980s, the beams would guide in boats from as far away as 22 miles across the Bristol Channel. The views on a clear day take in South Wales and Exmoor. Estate agent Sarah Lunn, who is handling the sale, said: “It’s perfect if sunset and champagne are your thing. “I don’t think half a million pounds is a lot of some people, but it’s maybe not suitable those with small children or pets.,Image: 371741265, License: Rights-managed, Restrictions: follow us on twitter - @swns browse our website - swns.com email pix@swns.com, Model Release: no, Credit line: - / SWNS / Profimedia
